It is at the ‘Auberge du Chevalier’ that Hergé and Raymond Leblanc have invited each year since 1947 the cartoonists of the Journal Tintin and their close associates for what was called ‘gargantuan annual meals’.
Traces of it can be found in the dedications the cartoonists made in the restaurant's famous guest book.
On the other hand, it is virtually unknown that E. P. JACOBS, the Blake and Mortier author, was also very much involved in the organization of these meals with Hergé and Leblanc.
Indeed, we learn that the attendance was to be notified E. P. JACOBS thanks to this exceptional original illustration by Bob de Moor, which was sent to a person not from the Hergé Studios.
This great original Indian ink composition by Bob de Moor is therefore a unique and formerly unknown Journal Tintin Collector’s item.
The illustration is completed by a photocopy of a statement written by Bob de Moor confirming that it was the one who drawn this original Indian ink illustration, as well as an illustration of the flyleaf of the guest book found on the Internet, and a photo of one of these dinners with Hergé, also found on the Internet.
This lot is ideal to enhance a beautiful collection.
In very good condition. Please note there is a central fold without any consequence regarding the character of this exceptional piece.
