Preußen Pickelhaube für Fähnriche im Feldartillerie-Regiment von Scharnhorst (1. Hannoversches) Nr. 10 of Niedersächsisches Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr 46 (Batteries 1, 4, 5, and 6).
This is an extremely high-quality Fähnrich Kugel Helmet that was correct for one of the two regiments. The first was the Feldartillerie Regiment von Scharnhorst (1. Hannoversches) Nr 10 and the second was Niedersächsisches Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr 46 (batteries 1, 4, 5 and 6).
Both were superior regiments because of their extensive service during the Napoleonic wars (as we will describe further below).
The body of this high-quality Kugel helmet is made of fibre (a high-quality precursor of fibreglass), rather than the more traditionally used leather. It has an excellent surface, although the interior is missing. The Prussian weapon is made of brass decorated at the top with three different bandeaux - . From left to right we see:
The Peninsula Campagne and Waterloo were the two most important commitments during the Napoleonic wars. The Duke of Wellington led British, Spanish, Portugal and German troops in both. All other parts are made in brass, including the chin bowls, the front of the visor, the back of the belt, base, officer stars and the kugel. The last detail on the outside are the right cockades of the state and the government.
The interior of the spare officer Kugelhelm is still equipped with a used, brown, leather sweatband in good condition with "". The attached beige lining is missing. More importantly, NO double holes appear where the weapon is attached.
The Kugelhelm comes from my collection as a very experienced collector who places condition and authenticity in the foreground.
