Man Ray - A l'heure de l'observatoire - Les amoureux

Photolithograph by Man Ray (1880-1976) signed and numbered 69/150 in pencil by the artist. Limited edition of 150 copies on wove paper. Published by J. Petithory, Paris. Reference: catalogue raisonné: Anselmino 15 Beautifully preserved condition In 1932, Lee Miller who was Man Ray's muse since 1929, left him. Man Ray immediately started the large eponymous painting titled ‘Les amoureux - A l’heure de l’observatoire’. These are the lips of Lee Miller, photographed by Man Ray and enlarged, floating in the sky above the Paris observatory. They also symbolize the bodies of Man Ray and Lee Miller side by side. This photolithography thus becomes a dreamlike testimony to a four-year symbiotic relationship which ended in 1932. The artwork became one of Man Ray's most popular works in several techniques, a black and white photography then in colours and then this photolithography. #exclusiveartweek
