He was educated at Weekeind Leergangen (1929-1929) and then attended evening classes, first in Sint-Niklaas and then at the Sint Lukas in Ghent. Has a preference for landscapes, city views, still lifes, and flowers. Settled in Bredene aan Zee after World War II and painted the fishing port, the sea and the dunes there.
