Descripción
Máscara (1) - Madera - Masque grebo - África
2ª mitad siglo XX - Buena

Grebo Masks circulated very early in Paris. These masks have particularly attracted the attention of Picasso, who owned a collection of African masks, and who was inspired by the Grebo mask, purchased around 1908, for the creation of his artwork, Guitare, the first cubist sculpture.
Masculine masks with geometric shapes are often recognisable thanks to their long nose, framed by two or several pairs of protruding eyes in a tubular form, sometimes threatening in appearance. The features of the feminine masks are smoother, more harmonious and serene.
