Weight: 2500 grams.

In the Franco-Prussian war of 1870 and the Siege of Paris in 1871, Boulanger distinguished himself because of exceptional courage. In 1880 he was promoted to brigadier general. In 1884, Boulanger was promoted to division general and appointed commander of the occupying army in Tunis. He gained enormous popularity and became Minister of Defence in 1886. His entire policy was aimed at a new war with Germany, which earned him the nickname 'Général Révanche'. One reform he was implementing was that soldiers were now allowed to grow a beard. After his resignation as minister, he founded the Boulangist Movement, which sought revenge on Germany and the restoration of the monarchy. He also became commander of the 13th Army Corps. When it emerged that he continued to undermine the government with his revanchist plans, disciplinary action followed and Boulanger was suspended in 1887 and removed from the officer's lists. Boulanger still enjoyed immense popularity, this plaque is from this year.

In 1888, Boulanger challenged the then Prime Minister Charles Floquet to a duel, after Floquet called Boulanger an enemy of the Republic because of his good contacts with Bonapartes. During the game, Floquet stabbed the general in the neck. Boulanger survived the injuries, which made him even more popular. In January 1889 he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies by an overwhelming majority.

In April of that year, his movement was banned and he was accused of "conspiring against the state". On April 1, 1889, Boulanger fled to London, and later to Brussels. Boulanger was sentenced in absentia on August 14.
On September 30, 1891, Boulanger committed suicide on the grave of his recently deceased lover. He was buried in the same grave.
