Wijnand Otto Jan Nieuwenkamp was born in Amsterdam on 27 July 1874 and died at San Domenico di Fisole on 23 April 1950.
Educated at the Rijksschool voor Kunstnijverheid in Amsterdam.
Made trips to Indonesia and Italy.
Painter, graphic artist, draughtsman, architect, author and ethnographer.
Member of Arti et Amicitiae and Pulchri Studio.
In 1947 he founded the Museum Nieuwenkamp in Edam.
