Original shunga woodblock print illustrations (3) - Probably Takehara Shunchōsai (?-1801) - Gay erotic illustrations - Japan - around 1776
Illustrations SUCH AS those in Shunga book Makura dōji nukisashi manben tamaguki (Pillow Book for the Young: "All You Need to Know about How the Jewelled Rod Goes In and Out", 1776).
This book was a parody of educational books from that time.
People thought differently about (gay) sexuality than the government favoured in the subculture Shunchōsai was part of.
The Pillow Book for the Young is covered in the article "Analyzing the Outrageous" by professor Andrew Gerstle (please see https://eprints.soas.ac.uk/17321/1/gerstle-analyzing-the-outrageous-2013.pdf).
The prints offered by me are very similar to the prints shown in this article, in both style and subject.
