1813/14 Army Cross, AUSTRIA, for the Anti-Napoleonic Wars of Liberation.
The Army Cross was also called the Cannon Cross because it was made from captured French guns.
Inscription: ‘Grati principes et patria franc imp aug’. On the back ‘Europae libertate asserta MDCCCIII/MDCCCXIV’.
Instituted by Franz I of Austria.
Could be awarded to all soldiers who took part in the Wars of Liberation against Napoleon, approx. 100,000 awarded.
The ribbon is lovely but probably a later ribbon, therefore more modern ribbon.
Bought at auction years ago at the Jan Kube auction house Castle Auction in Suggenheim.
