EE. UU. - Talla en marfil - 1800
Original - Diente de ballena - En muy buen estado

Dating from around 1800, this superbly carved Whale Tooth Powder Horn depicts nautical scenes and the American Eagle carrying the Stars and Stripes

The one face of the horn is decorated with a 3 masted schooner flying the USA flag together with a two masted ship also with a USA pennant flying from the tallest mast.

The other side of the horn bears the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" above a Bald Eagle and a shield decorated with three "Stars" and three "Stripes"
plus two Cannons plus stacked cannon balls.

There are also two "Stars" and a bird.

The rear sale of the larger ship appears to have the carvers name, but i cannot make out what it says - please see photo.

The scrimshaw still retains some of it's original red colouring on the Stars and Stripes.

The ends of the scrimshaw are made of horn and one end is fitted with a turned hardwood threaded stopper.

This item is CITES exempt as scrimshaw (carved or incised
whalebone and whale teeth) is considered
‘worked’ and can be sold freely within the EU.

The item will be shipped via Royal Mail, Tracked, Insured and Signed for on delivery
