This large-sized, wooden Corpus Christi from the 17th century is coherent to the iconography of Christus Patients with references to the Gothic iconography of northern Europe (Rhineland, Westphalia, etc.). It is entirely gouged by hand. The beautiful wooden cross (likely oak) is from a later time.
The Christ figure is 70 cm longThe cross measures 110 x 45 cm.
The face is framed by the long drooping hair over the shoulders, while the torso shows a minutely defined side hollowed out in its thinness with a copious gush of blood on the right side. The loincloth shows the typical double drapery, the knees are slightly raised, while the feet are atop one another and pierced by a single, long nail, and resting on a support shaped like a gargoyle, a symbol of sin. It shows an original and pleasant patina. It is beautiful, but nothing compared to seeing it live. In excellent state of preservation; it ships with insurance through a special courier. The price is great, considering its high quality
