Bronze sculpture (lost wax casting) depicting the head of Benito Mussolini, also known by the nickname of Duce (1883 – 1945). He was an Italian politician, soldier, journalist and dictator.
Founder of fascism, he was Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Italy from October 31, 1922 to July 25, 1943. In January 1925 he assumed de facto dictatorial powers and by December of the same year he acquired the title of head of Government Prime Minister Secretary of State. After the war in Ethiopia he added to the title of duce that of "Founder of the Empire” and became the first Marshal of the Empire on March 30, 1938. He was Head of the Italian Social Republic from September 1943 to April 27, 1945.
He was shot and killed by partisans on April 28, 1945.
