Carel Lodewijk Dake was born on 26th August 1857 and died on 8th August 1918 in Amsterdam. Carel was a painter, draughtsman, engraver, copyist, graphic designer, printer and teacher. In 1890, Carel was appointed teacher at the Amsterdam State Academy, making engravings after Rembrandt and Rubens (Source: Scheen 1981).
Several of his works are on display at the Rijks Museum in Amsterdam
