A beautiful harbourscape, oil on canvas, made and signed by M. de Jongere (1912-1977).
Marinus Drulman worked under the pseudonym M. de Jongere and gained great fame with his harbourscapes.
He flourished in the 1950s and 1960s. The time when Rotterdam was developing into a world port.
His fame was not limited to the Netherlands. The Greek shipping magnate Onassis once ordered 28 canvases from him, on which all the ships of his fleet were depicted separately.
The painting is well preserved, in the original wooden frame with a linen finish. There are no repairs or defects.
It is a true dynamic panorama of the Waalhaven of the time.
We also have a canvas by M. de Jongere, which we offer in a separate lot. The dimensions are the same, even a harbour view, but the frame is different in shape (different time) but made of wood with the same linen finish.
Due to the risk of damage during shipment, the lot can only be picked up in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht (NL) or otherwise personally delivered by the seller for a fee.
