Bright portrait of an elegant Parisian at the dawn of the 20th century. The diaphanous face is part of the delicate palette of a confirmed painter yet to be discovered. It is signed ‘Amilly’ and dated ‘1908’ on the bottom left. A label on the back of the stretcher tells us it had been hung on a picture rail at an exhibition in Chartres in 1909.
The pictorial layer is solid with colours that have kept all their freshness. The painting is protected by a glass without contact with the canvas. The whole thing was initially placed in a beautiful 18th or 19th century frame in very good condition despite some small scratches due to the passage of time.
