Lovely work on paper by the Belgian artist Rene Marie Dujardin (1913-2002).
Rene Marie Dujardin was a 20th century Belgium artist. Born in Antwerp he worked as a mariner from the age of 16. He travelled the world onboard ship and developed a love of shipping and the sea. He then studied painting at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He went on to have a long career as a marine artist. He worked from a studio on the River Scheldt a position which provided him with many opportunities to paint the shipping he loved. He was a founder member of the Belgian Marine Painters Association. Examples of his work are held in the collection of the Belgium state.
