Arthur Feudel was born in 1857 in Harthau near Chemnitz and studied at the Academies of Munich and Dresden.
In 1892 he was naturalized as an American.
In 1901 he moved to the Netherlands, visited Katwijk the following summer and settled there in 1904.
He joined Arti et Amicitiae and De Onafhankelijken.
Later he became ill and turned his attention to the sea and painted poetic interpretations of sunrises and sunsets.
In 1929, he died in Katwijk aan Zee.
