This XVIIth century Italian painting is a superb replica of the Ribera painting witch is at the Capodimonte museum in Naples. The Capodimonte painting measures 229 x 185 cm and dates from 1626. The Capodimonte painting was acquired after the artist's death by the Flemish merchant Gaspard Roomer. After various collections, it entered the collection of the Maison de Bourbon-Deux-Siciles at the end of the 18th century before entering the collection of the Capodimonte museum. Famous in its time, we know various replicas of this work including our painting.
