A very beautiful painting in water colours on silk by Takase Shungyo, 高瀬 春暁 (1885 - ?) dating from the Taisho – early Showa era. In original, signed box. Takase Shungyo studied Maruyama school painting under Haruyo Yamamoto. Starting from 1907 on, he won many prices at exhibitions. He is renowned for his animal paintings.
Paintings by Takase Shungyo are very rare on the art market.

Signature and seal: “春暁“: Shungyo.
Mounting: 121 x 46 cm; silk; a little worn; overall, in good condition.
Roller ends: Lacquered wood.
Box: 53 x 7 x 8 cm; wood; considering age, in good condition (no damage).
