Elegant and refined Kodansu (table cabinet), fully lacquered and finely decorated on a dark background in hiramaki-e with floral and naturalistic motifs.
The inside conceals three drawers, completely decorated in nashiji lacquer, framing three ivory and gold coloured lacquered panels inlaid with mother-of-pearl, using the shibayama technique.
The door has an ivory plaque with a naturalistic design of a Manchurian crane and mother-of-pearl and coral details. The internal structure and underside of the base are in nashiji lacquer, the hinges and carrying loop are mixed metal and finely engraved.

Very good condition - minor signs of age-related wear - see photos.
