Large original woodblock print - Published by Unsodo - Teruhide Kato (1936-2015) - "Golden Pavilion" - Japan - Heisei period (1989-2019)
This print was made from the original woodblocks.
The full moon shines upon the Golden Pavilion. The black sky and semi-abstract gray mountain are on the background.
Teruhide Kato,Teruhide Kato had studied at Kyoto Art College. He was a famous kimono fashion designer. When he was 50 years old, he decided to follow his real passion, and became a traditional Kyoto woodblock artist. Success remained with the artist. After a gallery exhibition in New York and a book publication of his works titled "Kyoto Romance" he is as famous as a woodblock artist as he used to be as a kimono designer. This item is as new.
Top condition and vibrant colors! Pristine condition unused, unframed, unmounted mint 'Hand printed' woodblock. Comes in original folder.
I love the very soft but dark black and the lighter bite on the roof by the moonlight.
This is a bigger work ! Please see the last picture for this comparison. The smaller Kato print is NOT in this lot.
