Heliograph from an original work by Amedeo Modigliani, printed in 1952 by De Luca editore in Rome, in excellent condition.
Work made on the occasion of the Quadriennale nazionale d'arte in Rome in 1952.
“Self-portrait in the studio”
Printed signature of Amedeo Modigliani.
Work size: 39x28 cm.
Modigliani made his own self-portrait in this single work, shortly before his death, his penultimate work, for some the last.
A life dedicated to portraiture but so reticent in front of his personal depiction.
This work is at the top of Modì's painting, bust in profile, head reclined in a perfect ellipse, turned towards the viewer placing himself three quarters. Palette and brushes held on the right hand are the only, discreet details allusive to his profession, in a portrait of absolute solitude.
Like Edgar Degas, Vassily Kandinsky, Egon Schiele, Piet Mondrian, Georges Braque, Raoul Dufy, René Magritte, Vincent Van Gogh, Edvard Munch, Paul Cezanne, Renoir, Matisse, Rembrandt, Picasso, Gustav Klimt, Constantin Brancusi, Paul Gauguin, Georges Seurat, Gustav Klimt, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Amedeo Modigliani was one of the greatest artists of the 20th century.
