Important and large bronze and ivory elephant Okimono of the Tokyo school representing a child feeding a small chick.
Exceptional for its size and rarity of subject, the kimono is entirely in bronze with a dark patina and enhances the light ebony part of the bare feet, the hands with the caterpillar and the chick, together with the beauty of the face with its careful expression in the moment of maximum shrewdness, a second before feeding the little chick with the beak open. He holds a stick to simulate bamboo with his right arm.
Hiroko signature with engraving on the base.
Weight 5 kg

In very good condition- natural veining of the ivory - see photos.
