A beautiful painting of 'a pig trader in a yard', in the style of David Teniers II (1610-1690). Possibly made in his studio or a follower.
The panel consists of 3 planks, the middle plank of which bears the brand mark of the Antwerp Guild (and the city of Antwerp). The Antwerp panel maker had to have his panels inspected before they could be used by members of the Antwerp Painters Guild. These brand marks can be found in Antwerp on panels from the late 16th century to the middle of the 17th century and were a quality guarantee for the painter.
The painting is in fairly good condition.
The heavy frame with beautiful ornaments corresponds in style elements to the splendid frames made at the time of Louis XIV: 1643 - 1715, the frame is in a pretty good condition.
