Rice basket from Shan State in Myanmar (Burma). These items were used by rice sellers in the markets
and had a very precise quantity, the signs drawn on the basket guaranteed both the quantity but also the quality of the rice sold.
Its colours are characteristic of the Shan State, as well as the simplicity of the work.
The object in its original condition, having been used for decades and bearing signs of its use, there are some lacks lacquer (see photos), which in no way diminishes its charm or its decorative appearance.
This type of object has now become hard to find, as they have unfortunately been replaced by plastic containers.
