Press photos Suez crisis - Suez War - the Second Arab–Israeli war (65 years ago) - In 2021 it will be 65 years ago that the Suez crisis was world news. The 1956 conflict was about the ownership and access of the Suez Canal. It led to the Suez War in Sinai, between Egypt on the one hand and Israel, the United Kingdom and France on the other. The fighting lasted from October 31 to November 5, 1956, the Israeli occupation of the Sinai Desert and Gaza strip was lifted in March 1957.
