Isis (Greek) or Aset (Egyptian Au Set) is one of the most important goddesses of Egyptian mythology. Isis was first worshiped in the Nile Delta, later she was given a temple on the island of Philae, among other things. Her home town was Iseum, the twelfth Lower Egyptian nomos. Originally, Isis is the name of a tutelary goddess from the Nile Delta. Horus is her son and symbolizes the annual disappearance and emergence of life, as it becomes visible in agriculture. Horus was also the personification of the Pharaoh.
