Patinated bronze sculpture of a mostly naked man trying to hold and calm down a prancing horse. Made after the example of one of the famous Marly Horses, by Guillaume Cousteau.
France, late 19th Century.
The reins the man should be holding are missing. When I acquired this piece, a copper wire was in place to serve as reins, but as it clearly showed younger and had a different color, I removed it.
