Extremely rare icon from the Carpathians Mountains depicting the saint archangels Michael and Gabriel, powerful heavenly protectors of the house and its inhabitants against the evil forces. Egg tempera on panel and liquid gold. It shows small touch-ups/restorations. It is a very rare primitive/naif style work from the late 18th/early 19th century (sancte archangele, defende nos in proelio, contra nequitiam at insidias diaboli esto praesidium...)
