An extraordinary lot, this 19th century Dutch lacquer work was made by Lodewijk Johannes Nooijen in Rotterdam.
He signed: 'L.J. Nooijen'

Was listed in the registers in Amsterdam as a painter and listed in the registers in Rotterdam as a lacquer painter. He had a lacquer warehouse in Rotterdam.
Born in Breda, 1827-04-02.
Deceased in Rotterdam, 1901-10-01.
The 6-part set has mother-of-pearl inlay in the edges and a star in the centre. It consists of:
Serving tray, large size! This one has some upper paint damage. 54 x 40 cm.
Cookie jar, 16 x 10 x 6.5 cm. Sub dish 22 x 18.5 cm.
Candy box, 13 diameter x 6.5 cm high, sub dish 19.5 cm in diameter.
Tea box with lock (key missing) 13 x 9 x 6.5.
