Beautiful gouache (opaque matte-drying waterpaint) + smaller lithograph of a still life of a vase with margrites and a chrysanthemum, a tin dish and an orange-red plate. Made by Stans Balwé (Amsterdam 14-08-1863 – Blaricum 01-09-1954), painter, watercolourist and lithographer. Arts and crafts school in Haarlem, taught by Nicholas Bastert and Ferdinand Oldewelt. She was one of the first women to make lithographs following the example of her oil paintings and gouaches. There is also a large lithograph of this scene (auctioned at Catawiki on 19-03-2017).
Gouache 46 x 36 cm, signed in red on the bottom right, glued onto board, without glass in a newer white frame of 52 x 42 cm.
Lithograph 27 x 21 cm, unsigned (her lithographs were often signed and numbered on the back), glued on cardboard, behind a cream mat behind glass in the original frame of 45.5 x 37.5 cm.
