Born in Plougastel-Daoulas on 11th November 1933, Jean-Yves Madec, the painter is well known to the people of Brest. A student at the Beaux-Arts in Rennes, Jean-Yves Madec was then a visual arts teacher in Brest, at the College of the Four-Moulins and then at the Iroise High School, where he retired in 1993. He gave his students the basics of knowledge in art history, a taste for beauty, aesthetics, critical thinking, respect for each other's creation, while teaching drawing and painting. A great traveller, in love with beautiful forms, he was able to translate, in his paintings, the emotion felt and recorded in his memory. Plobannalec-Lesconil is a commune in the Pays Bigouden, located on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean and close to the town of Pont-l'Abbé. Scene animates in its original 54 x 94 cm frame.
