Albert Torie (1896-1969) - farm
Oil paint on painter’s board - signed bottom right.
Oil painting Meppel area.
Signed bottom right A Torie.
Albert Torie was born in Havelte in 1896.
When people talk about Meppeler painters these days,
Torie and Keizer are usually mentioned in one fell swoop.
They often joined to explore the rural countryside of Drenthe, where they, hat and puff pants on,
captured the landscape, which is very familiar to them, in their own style and colour.
Torie was a true regional painter who did not have to travel from home to be inspired.
In the Meppel area, he found everything he wanted and needed.
He often went out on the moped to visit his regular spots and capture his favourite subjects.
The Staphorsterveld, the decks of Giethoorn, the water of Jonen,
belt- and Schutsloot, but above all: the Kierse Wiede.
Dimensions of the oil painting are: 48.5 x 58.5 cm.
Dimensions of the wooden frame: 56 x 65.5 cm.
